Brazil captain, Thiago Silva has said he and his Brazil teammates messed up and should take responsibility for their defeat to Croatia in the quarter-finals of the World Cup on Saturday.
Brazil, one of the teams tipped to win the trophy in Qatar this year, crashed out in a penalty shootout to a stubborn Croatian side.
With the game ending 0-0 in normal time, both sides waited till extra time to find the back of the net, dragging the game to a penalty shootout.
Brazil was in front in the first half of extra time when Neymar played an incredible one-two with Paqueta before dancing around Livakovic and firing home from close range.
But Croatia responded in the dying minutes, with Petkovic’s deflected strike, his side’s only shot on target, finishing off a slick counter-attack.
The match ended in a penalty shootout and Croatia emerged victorious beating Brazil 4-2 on penalties
“Croatia is a quality team. Suddenly we could be a little better focused. We’re not used to taking that kind of counterattack. I think we messed up a bit,” he told beIN Sport.
“In the second ball that we lost, we gave the counterattack, which was all they wanted at that moment, in addition to the aerial ball. And the goal didn’t even come from the top, it went through the ground.”
