BREAKING: ENUGU STATE GOVT LISTS CONDITIONS FOR UNSEALING DEFAULTING SHOPS

The Enugu state government has listed conditions necessary for the unsealing of shops affected when government team monitoring compliance of shop owners on the ban of sit at home orders in Enugu state, went round major markets on Monday.

The state Government in a public service announcement, signed by the secretary of the state government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia revealed that the conditions include provision of  current tax clearance certificate and other relevant revenue documents after one week for consideration.

The statement also quoted the Secretary of the state government as stating that the time for consideration of such exercise begins Friday 28 July 2023.

Prof. Onyia who directed that all affected shops owners were to be at the Enugu State Capital Development Authority (ECTDA) headquarters, by 2:00 PM with the required documents, also commended Enugu residents who took to the street to protest against the continuous illegal sit at home order.

The full statement reads”

“SEALING OF SHOPS OVER BAN ON SIT-AT-HOME ORDERS*

"The Enugu State Government wishes to commend civil society organisations and residents that took ownership of government’s ban on illegal sit-at-home orders by embarking on peaceful demonstrations in the capital city yesterday. Government commends the participants for their peaceful conduct throughout the demonstrations.

"In previous announcements to the good people and residents of Enugu State, government had directed business and shop owners to open for normal businesses on Monday and every work day, or have the defaulting business premises and shops sealed. That was exactly what the government did on Monday, July 24, 2023, to enforce its earlier directives.

"All businesses that were sealed shall remain sealed for one week, at the end of which they shall provide their current tax clearance certificates and all other relevant revenue documents to enable the state government to review and consider their formal letters for re-opening.

"Again, all considerations start from Friday, July 28, 2023 from 2.00 pm at the Enugu State Capital Development Authority (ECTDA) headquarters.

"Please be guided accordingly.

"Signed:

Professor Chidiebere Onyia

Secretary to the State Government

Tuesday, July 25, 2023."
