There has been shakeups in the polity following the judgements of the National Assembly Tribunal across the country, where some National Assembly members were declared legitimate winners of the recently conducted 2023 general elections in their various constituencies, while others were declared losers by the courts.
The Courts' decisions were fallouts of adoptions of the written submissions of both the respondents and petitioners during the hearings.
Following this development, Enugupress.ng brings you list of three Members of the Federal House of Representatives whose elections were nullified by the Tribunal in ENUGU State.
One is Hon. Engr. Chijioke Stanislaus Okereke - CSO representing Awgu/Aninri/Oji river Federal Constituency. His election was nullified by the tribunal with Chief Onwuegbu Anayo (Omehiukwu) of the PDP declared winner of the contest.
Second is Hon. Prof. Paul Sunday Nnamchi representing Enugu East/Isiuzo Federal Constituency. His election was also nullified by the tribunal, with Prince Cornelius Nnaji of the PDP declared winner of the contest.
Third is Rt. Hon. Barr. Sunday Cyriacus Umeha Representing Udi/Ezeagu Federal Constituency. He was disqualified by the Tribunal on the grounds that he didn’t properly resign from the PDP before seeking the ticket of the Labour Party, thus declaring the PDP Candidate, Hon. Festus Uzor as winner.
The lost federal lawmakers will now approach the appellate court for reversal of the above judgements or quit their respective offices for the rightful winners.
This is just like taken food out the mouth that has started chewing what is therein.
