Security is our Priority - says Isi Uzo Council Chairman, as he Hosts Enugu State Commissioner For Human Capital And Poverty Alleviation On a Tour To Isi Uzo.

The Executive Chairman of Isi-Uzo local Government, Hon Barr. Obiora Obeagu, accompanied by the State Security agencies, received the Honourable Commissioner for Human Capital and Poverty Alleviation Hon. Dr. Malachi Agbo and his team on a working visit to Isi-Uzo council headquarters yesterday. 


The Isi-Uzo Council Chairman was accompanied by members of the Council, legislators and all the State Security architecture in Isi Uzo LGA.


Enugupress.ng reports that the Council Boss, in his address, welcomed the Honourable commissioner, his team and other stakeholders to the Council. 


Hon. Obeagu used the opportunity to highlight the progress made so far as it concerns security in Isi-Uzo, how he restructured the neighborhood watch security with the help of other stakeholders in the various wards and communities. He noted that this helped to address the ugly incident of politicization of security work, which  impacts negatively in their security operations.


He noted that there are still challenges despite the progresses made but that his administration is facing them squarely. 


The Isi-Uzo Council Chairman went further to thank the Honourable Commissioner for showing leadership and and interest in the security of lives and property across the local governments and Enugu State. 


Hon. Obiora Obeagu promised that Isi-Uzo will continue to make the security and welfare of Ndi Isi-Uzo and other residents the top priority of his administration as it is the constitutional responsibility and primary purpose of any government.


The Honourable Commissioner for Human Capital and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Malachi Agbo in his own speech, thanked the Executive Chairman of Isi-Uzo and the good people of Isi Uzo local government for welcoming them. He said that their visit to Isi Uzo had to do with security reform in Enugu State by the administration of his Excellency Barr. Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah. He stated that the government of Barr. Mbah, having gone through all the reports and recommendations from various security experts about challenges facing the security agencies in Enugu state and has decided to reform the entire security architecture in the state. 


Dr Malachi Agbo said that the approach of Isi-Uzo in restructuring the Neighbourhood watch is a good model to be used by other local governments in Enugu State. 


The Commissioner noted that the government is ready to give all the necessary supports to make sure that issues of security challenges in Isi-Uzo and other local governments in Enugu state will soon be a thing of the past.


The team leader by name, Chief Emmanuel Onyeabor who was also a  guest speaker, took his time to address the various security personnel at the gathering and also gave details on how to network in case of security emergencies to aid quicker interventions from the state government. Rewards were also announced for those that will provide useful information that will aid the government to combat crime effectively.


Other speakers like the DPO of Isi-Uzo local government, SP Kingsley noted that he is happy with the way the neighborhood watch are doing their work  within his short time in Isi Uzo and urged that government should look into their welfares in other to encourage them to continue to do good work in Isi Uzo local government. 


The CSO of Isi-Uzo local government Mr. Stephen Ugwu in his remarks thanked the Honourable commissioner, his team and other stakeholders for coming to Isi Uzo. He assured the Commissioner that Isi-Uzo Neighbourhood watch will continue to do their work diligently in synergy with other security agencies in order to help eradicate every form of security challenges in the local government. 

He prayed that God will guide them as they go back to Enugu. 


Other Stakeholders in attendance were; The Leader of Isi-Uzo Legislative Council, Hon. Irenus Nnaji, the Secretary to Isi-Uzo LGA, Hon Bar. Azubuike Odo, The Coordinating Chairman of various PDP Local Government Chairmen, Hon Emeka Nwatu, the Admin Eha-Amufu East, Hon Emeka Omeh, Administrator of Amanyi Development Center, Hon Ik Orji, Honourable Supervisor for Agriculture, Hon Nnabuike Ezembu, Secretary Amanyi Development Center, Hon Ugwu Eusebius, Chief Protocol Isi-Uzo,Hon Ugwu Emmanuel, The Director DSS Isi Uzo, The Coordinator Civil Defence Isi Uzo, among many others.
