The Igboetiti Local Government Area of Enugu State, on Saturday, 9th of December, 2023, unveiled a groundbreaking project; *Ogbede Building Materials Martket*.
The rural council, in a recent publication which has since Saturday, 9th day of December, gone viral on social media, also commenced allocation of shops to traders at the Building Materials Market.
The Ogbede building materials market is a collection of over 100 units of commercial stalls set across 9 buildings, all enclosed within a complex by a secure perimeter fence in the heart of Ogbede District Igbo-Etiti LGA.
The landmark project is a brainchild of the innovative led administration of Hon. Ikenna Nwodo, in partnership with the private sector, using the public private partnership (PPP) model to deliver the project.
The market sits on the Enugu/ Markurdi Expressway, and its entry and exit gateways are designed to allow direct flow of traffic onto the Expressway.
The signature project's strategic location is thus evident considering the fact that the expressway remains the only link-road between the northern part of Nigeria and the Eastern part.
The Market is, however, the first of its kind in the region and major development for trade and commerce.
The stalls were designed in conjunction with traders to specifically suit their requirements for trade.
The designs include Cements/Iron Rod Stalls/Block (designed to be internally & externally longer in length for storage & display); Tiles Stalls/Block (designed with thicker floors and loading ramps etc); Tools and GeneralPurpose Stalls/Block Plumbing Stalls/Block (designed to be internally & externally longer in length for storage & display) and Electrical Stalls.
The complex is further designed with a large central parking/trailer turning space with a parking capacity of 50 vehicles. The complex also features a security building, a separate toilet block for the convenience of customers and traders alike, and a restaurant.
Congratulations to Igboetiti LGA once again!
