Distinguished Senator Osita Ngwu of Enugu West District, who is also the Senate Minority Whip, is pleased to announce his collaboration with the Enugu State Ministry of Water Resources to address the water needs in the *Rural communities* of Enugu West District.

This partnership is aimed at supporting the already successful Governor Peter Mbah's visionary "Water for Enugu" initiative. This collaboration seeks to tackle the pressing water needs in the rural areas of Enugu West District in particular.

Senator Ngwu totally supports Governor Peter Mbah's belief that access to clean water is a fundamental human right and a crucial component of socio-economic growth and prosperity. Water scarcity is a matter of utmost concern in Enugu West District, impacting the daily lives and well-being of its residents. It is the recognition of Governor Peter Mbah's determination to deliver water justice to the masses that propels Senator Osita Ngwu to join forces with the Enugu State Ministry of Water Resources to address this pressing challenge head-on, with particular focus on the rural communities in Enugu West District.

In his unwavering commitment to this vital cause, Senator Ngwu has committed to allocating significant portion of his constituency project intervention in the 2024 fiscal year and beyond to partner with the Enugu State Government to deliver sustainable water infrastructure to his constituents.

Through this partnership, the Office of Senator Osita Ngwu and the Enugu State Ministry of Water Resources will work hand in hand to implement sustainable solutions and strategies that will significantly improve access to clean and reliable water sources in Enugu West District.

To this end, the partnership is poised to commence the rehabilitation of non-functional government (local, state, and federal)-funded boreholes in Enugu West District and upgrade them to solar-powered systems where necessary. In addition, the Enugu State Government and the office of Senator Osita Ngwu intend to provide new boreholes to communities in Enugu West district that are in dire need.

The migration of boreholes in Enugu West to solar-powered systems demonstrates government commitment to sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions. Embracing renewable energy sources will not only provide long-term benefits but also reduce the environmental impact associated with conventional power sources.

The office of Senator Osita Ngwu kindly requests all communities in Enugu West District with non-functional government funded boreholes to contact the Special Assistant to the Senator on Water Resources to ensure that moribund boreholes in their communities are included in the upcoming site inspection programme. Moreover, communities in need of new boreholes will be identified and included in the program that will start in Q1 2024.

Distinguished Senator Osita sincerely appreciates the Enugu State Government for their valuable collaboration on this important initiative. He emphasises the significance of the collaborative efforts between the Enugu Caucus in the National Assembly and the Enugu State Government in addressing the social challenges faced by the citizens. Together, they can work towards overcoming these hurdles and improving the lives of Enugu people.
