HAPPENING NOW: Excitement as 1st National Council on Sports Development Takes off at Old Government Lodge, Enugu


 


 


There was an atmosphere of excitement as the 1st National Council on Sports Development, was, on Monday morning, 20th of May, 2024, declared opened at the Old Government Lodge in Enugu. 


The event which is scheduled to last for three days, has Mrs. Tinuke Watti, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Sports Development, and esteemed dignitaries from across the nation in attendance. 


The guests were received by the honorable Commissioner for youths and sports, Barr. Lloyd Ekwremadu, who represented the Deputy Governor of Enugu State, Barr. Ifeanyi Ossai, at the occasion.


Information available to Enugupress.ng indicates that various speakers at the event In their addresses, emphasized on the pivotal role of sports in fostering national unity, driving socio-economic growth, and empowering the youth. 


The speakers however, "engaged in dynamic discussions on transformative policies and strategies to elevate Nigerian sports to new heights. 


The Key themes of the national program included inclusivity, collaboration, and innovative approaches to sports development.


In his address, the Enugu state Commissioner for youths and sports, Barr. Lloyd Ekwremadu, expressed his Heartfelt appreciations to The Governor of Enugu State, Dr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, the Hon. Minister FMSD, the Permanent Secretary FMSD, the State and Federal Organizing Committees, the Local Organizing Committee, and all stakeholders for their outstanding efforts in hosting this impactful event. 


He further called for "continued  collaborative efforts towards building a stronger, healthier, and more prosperous Nigeria through the power of sports.
