A philanthropist and Peoples Democratic Party stalwart in Ezeagu LGA, Engineer Lawrence Uzo, has doled out one million to support the ongoing PDP registration exercise across Ezeagu LGA.
Engr. Uzo who disclosed this on Friday morning, 24th of May, 2024, through his Media aide, Hon. Jideofor Chijioke, directed that the money be shared to the 20 Ward Chairmen of the peoples Democratic party in Ezeagu LGA, in order to facilitating the ongoing exercise.
The party chieftain also outlined the goals of the ongoing registration exercise to include Strengthening grassroots engagement and participation, Promoting inclusivity and diversity within the party, Enhancing internal democracy and consensus-building, as well as Fostering a culture of transparency and accountability.
Describing the ongoing registration exercise as a crucial step towards restoring the party to its former glory, He urged all well-meaning individuals from Ezeagu who wish to join the PDP to seize this opportunity and register within the one-week window.
A statement, obtained by Enugupress.ng reads: "I am honored to announce that I have been officially mandated by Engr. Lawrence Uzor to collect the account details of the 20 PDP ward chairmen of Ezeagu Local Government Area. This directive is part of a broader initiative aimed at empowering our grassroots leaders and enhancing the party's overall performance.
"In light of this development, each ward will receive a substantial sum of #50,000, totaling #1,000,000 in disbursements. This funding will significantly facilitate the ongoing registration of new party members across the 20 political wards of Ezeagu, enabling our ward chairmen to execute their duties more effectively.
"Furthermore, all ward party chairmen are directed to send their account details to Hon. Jideofor Chijioke for immediate disbursement. This will ensure a seamless and efficient transfer of funds, supporting the party's grassroots activities and strengthening its presence in Ezeagu Local Government Area."
Engr. Lawrence Uzor also took the opportunity to express his heartfelt appreciation to the Executive Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency Barr. Dr. Peter N. Mbah, for his visionary leadership and tireless effort in restructuring the party's structure. This bold move has breathed new life into the party across all 17 Local Government Areas of Enugu State.
"Governor Peter Mbah is renowned for his transformative leadership and infrastructure development initiatives, which have significantly impacted Enugu State.
"His administration's commitments to revitalizing the party's structure, coupled with his impressive infrastructure projects, has reinvigorated the party's grassroots support and energized its membership.
He listed Some of Governor Mbah's infrastructural achievements to include: "The reconstruction and modernization of major roads and highways, enhancing connectivity and facilitating economic growth and the establishment of cutting-edge healthcare facilities, providing quality medical services to citizens.
Engr. Uzor also lauded "the development of innovative education initiatives, improving access to quality learning opportunities and the implementation of sustainable water supply projects, ensuring clean water for all by the governor."
