JUST IN: Senator Ngwu Commends Gov. Mbah, Lists Administration's Numerous Achievements, as Enugu Clocks 33


 

The Senate Minority Whip and Senator Representing Enugu West Senatorial District in the red Chamber, Distinguished Senator Osita Ngwu, has commended the administration of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah as well as the people of the state, on the occasion of Enugu's 33 years of existence.


Recall that Enugu state came into being in 1991 following the proclamation of the then military government of General Ibrahim Babangida. 


In his congratulatory message, the Senator explained that Enugu State which derived its name from two Igbo words, "Enu-Ugwu," meaning "top of the hill," has Today, transformed into a model state, having experienced various political changes and reorganizations, but  maintained its significance as a commercial and entertainment hub. 


The lawmaker while congratulating the current governor of the state, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah on his numerous achievements within a short period of time in office, highlighted the Governor's achievements to include those in agriculture, physical infrastructure, education, healthcare, and other essential services.


Below is a full text of the Senator's congratulatory message to the government and people of the State.



 "Hurray, Enugu Is 33! 


Enugu State is 33! I am honored to congratulate the government and people of Enugu State on this auspicious occasion. Created on August 27, 1991, from the eastern two-thirds of Anambra State, Enugu State derived its name from two Igbo words, "Enu-Ugwu," meaning "top of the hill." Today, it has transformed into a model state, thanks to the vision of its founding fathers and great sons and daughters.


 *_A Look Back_*  

Enugu State has experienced various political changes and reorganizations, but has maintained its significance as a commercial and entertainment hub. The state has seen significant developments in agriculture, infrastructure, education, healthcare, and other essential services.


 *_Achievements Under Governor Peter Mbah_*  


Governor Peter Mbah has brought an uncommon touch to leadership, improving all sectors. Notably:


- Security: Strengthened capacity of security agencies and related bodies like the Neighborhood Watch and Forest Guards.

- Water Supply: Boosted through the ultra-modern Ninth 24/7 water scheme.

- Infrastructure: Approved construction of 71 urban roads and 10 major rural roads, including dual carriage roads spanning over 40 kilometers.

- Education: Launched the 260 smart green school initiative, with plans for one school per ward.

- Healthcare: Constructed a new modern triage at ESUT Teaching Hospital.

- Agriculture: Revamped the moribund Palm Products Limited and created 100,000 hectares of land in each senatorial zone for cultivation of export products.

While we celebrate these achievements, Governor Peter Mbah  is committed to addressing the following challenges:


- Unemployment: Governor Mbah has initiated various job creation programs, including vocational training and entrepreneurship support.

- Healthcare: Government efforts are underway to upgrade healthcare facilities  , increase access to quality healthcare, and improve healthcare services in rural areas.
