Eid-el-Maulud : Enugu State Royal Fathers urge Muslims to pray for unity in the country


Traditional Rulers in Enugu State have urged Muslims in the country to use the celebration of Eid-el-Maulud (the birthday of Holy Prophet Mohammed) to pray for peace and unity in the country.

HRM Igwe Samuel Asadu, Chairman, Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council said this in Nsukka on Monday while speaking with newsmen, he said with peace and unity the country would overcome all its challenges.

'With peace and unity we will surmount the present economic hardship and security challenges in the country.

"To move this country forward we must love, trust one another and work together irrespective of our language, tribe, religion and political affiliation, " he said.

Asadu who is the Traditional Ruler of Edem-Ani Ogwugu Community in Nsukka Local Government Area extolled the shining qualities and virtues of Holy  Prophet Mohammed who dedicated his life in preaching love, peace, unity,  and forgiveness irrespective of language, tribe, religion or political affiliation. 

"We should all emulate the good and examplary life of Holy Prophet Mohammed in all we do in order to move our country forward.

"Holy Prophet Muhammad's birthday is celebrated globally every year because the Holy Prophet used His life to contribute immensely as well as impacted positively on humanity.

"Enugu State Traditional Rulers facilitate with Muslims all over the world on this joyous occasion of celebration Prophet Mohammed birthday," he said.

The Chairman said, the traditional Rulers in Enugu State is also using the opportunity to commiserate with victims of recent flood disaster in Maiduguri, Borno State capital where many lost their lives, thousands of residents were displaced and property worth billions of naria destroyed.

"We express our heartfelt  condolences to families who lost their beloved ones and sympathise with thousands of residents displaced whose property were destroyed by the flood," Asadu added .
