JUST In: Ikem-Uno Autonomous Community Gets New Caretaker Committee


 

Chief Engr (Sir) Chinedum Stephen Ugwuodo of Obegu village in Ikem Uno, Isiuzo Local Government of Enugu State, has been appointed chairman caretaker committee of Ikem Uno Town Union. 


The Caretaker committee which was inaugurated by the Enugu State Ministry of Rural development on Friday 25th of October, 2024, also saw Chief Samuel Uche ugwu from Odumuogwu as Vice chairman while Mr Anene Chima from Umuenyanwu was appointed secretary of the caretaker committee.


Other members of the committee include Mr. Agbo Augustine from Umuezutu, and Mr.Odo Elias from Ogelegwu, Ikem Uno 


Speaking to Enugupress.ng correspondent shortly after the exercise, chairman of the Town Union, (Sir) Chinedum highlighted core  responsibilities of the committee to include "to unite all, get an acceptable constitution, restore Peace and conduct acceptable elections for the community."


His words: "Our major task as announced on Wednesday 12th of October,2024 by the Hon Commissioner of LG and Chieftainacy Affairs, are to unite all, get an acceptable constitution, restore Peace and conduct acceptable elections for the community. 


"Above all, it is all about restoring peace to the community so as to enhance development and progress. It is total dedication and service to our dear community. 


"I wish to plead with all to give peace a chance for the interest of our community. I also plead for your total support and openness so that every issues will be resolved within the shortest period of time.


"We will work with everybody with openness, Justice, Fairness and trusting in God's Divine wisdom. As a committee, we will work hard to achieve this so that Ikem Uno will be the pride and heartbeat of Ikem, Isi Uzo and beyond.
