Comrade Chinedu Okoro, widely known as Larry Popo, is one such individual. A natural-born humanitarian, his commitment to the well-being of his community is pronounced in his numerous contributions to human development, especially in his hometown, Uvuru Agada in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area (LGA) of Enugu State.
Larry Popo's professional journey began in the banking sector, with Skye Bank Plc. He is a graduate of Business Administration from the prestigious Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge, United Kingdom. However, it wasn't long before his passion for making a difference in the lives of others led him to look beyond the corporate world and focus on uplifting those around him. While still employed at Skye Bank, Larry Popo took it upon himself to address unemployment issues in his community and beyond. He employed eight individuals from Uzo-Uwani, Igbo-Etiti, and Nsukka, offering them opportunities that transformed their lives. Among them, Michael Agbam and Justin Ali rose to the ranks of assistant manager, an evident of Larry's dedication to career development and empowerment.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, when many were struggling to make ends meet, Larry Popo's sense of responsibility towards his people shone brightly. Understanding the economic hardship rural dwellers were facing, he was the first to provide food support to families in Ugbene Uvuru, easing the burden of hunger and uncertainty during those difficult times.
In his most recent act of kindness, Larry Popo extended his generosity to the Umuada Uzo-Uwani Uvuru ward, which comprises ten villages in the Uvuru community. He provided clothing to these women, putting smiles on their faces and showing once again that his compassion knows no bounds. His belief that whatever pains his people also pains him continues to drive him to do more for the community.
